About the role
- GitLab is seeking a VP of Enterprise Transformation & Finance Strategy to architect and lead the strategic evolution of our Finance function while serving as a key driver of enterprise-wide business transformation as we scale as a public company.
- Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be Finance's primary partner on GitLab's most strategically significant cross-functional initiatives, including Lead-to-Cash optimization, our transition to a consumption-based business model, and global expansion strategy, working in close partnership with the CRO, CPO, CIO, and executive leadership team to ensure these programs are well-structured, well-governed, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
- You will build and lead the Finance Transformation Office while extending Finance's partnership to serve as a catalyst for enterprise-wide transformation, establishing the governance frameworks, program architecture, and change management capabilities required to execute complex, multi-year initiatives that partner and co-sponsor with Sales, Revenue Operations, Legal, IT, and GTM.
- You are equally comfortable influencing a Board-level strategy conversation and rolling up your sleeves to drive execution in a fully distributed, async-first environment.
- This role is critical to ensuring GitLab operates with the speed, efficiency, and sophistication required of a high-performing public technology company navigating a transformational moment in its growth.
Requirements
- Extensive progressive experience in strategic finance, transformation, or enterprise program leadership at public technology companies
- Proven track record leading complex, enterprise-wide transformation programs, including revenue model transitions, global expansion, and revenue cycle optimization that delivered measurable business impact in a high-growth environment
- Deep expertise in Lead-to-Cash processes and systems, with experience driving cross-functional alignment across Sales, Revenue Operations, Finance, and IT
- Firsthand experience with consumption or usage-based business model transitions, including the associated billing, revenue recognition, and operational infrastructure requirements
- Strong understanding of public company financial reporting requirements, internal controls, and SOX compliance frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to build credibility and influence at all organizational levels, including C-suite executives and Board members, without direct authority
- Experience operating in a remote-first or distributed work environment; ability to lead virtually and build cohesive teams across geographies
- Exceptional program management capabilities with a track record of delivering large, multi-workstream initiatives on time and within budget
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred; CPA, CFA, or similar certification a plus
- Experience in SaaS business models and subscription or consumption-based revenue environments is highly valued
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
