About the role

  • Executive Director provides leadership, vision and direction to the council and broader Girls on the Run organization. Represents the council to the public, leads organizational development and strategic planning, optimizes financial performance, oversees program delivery, builds donor relationships and oversees personnel. Works closely with Board of Directors and GOTR International; expands systems and procedures to accomplish mission and strategic goals. Develops organizational strategy, sound practices and supportive relationships. Operational and Staff Management: fosters strong Board relationship; oversees recruiting, training, development, evaluation of staff. Program Development: planning with Board and staff; develops council growth plan; ensuring successful participation of quality programming; track KPIs; cultivate relationships with coaches, donors, parents, participants, sponsors and volunteers; oversee end of season 5ks; serve as ambassador. Organizational Administration: ensure compliance with laws and GOTR membership agreement; develop policies and procedures; plan for infrastructure growth; establish business systems; maintain ethical standards and accountability; execute reports to GOTR-I and funding agencies. Fund development and Community Relations: develop diverse funding streams; oversee fundraising efforts; participate in donor cultivation; develop collaborations; media relations; partner with GOTR International for marketing. Finance: ensure financial performance; maintain record keeping and internal controls; assist Board with budget; review and report financial activities; analyze financial trends.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or 2–5 years of comparable experience. Minimum of three to five years of demonstrated experience with organizational management. Demonstrated ability of building and leading effective teams. Passion for the Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health. Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external) Demonstrated experience setting and managing budgets and financial forecasting. Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions. Flexible and adaptable.
