Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain and develop new features on the software platform
Apply software engineering principles to software design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation
Ensure developed software is secure and safe regarding information security and personal data
Actively participate in meetings and projects
Coordinate with team members
Continue professional development and keep abreast of new developments
Document work clearly and understandably for future use
Participate in Agile rituals and practices as part of the tech team

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing Scala-based backend systems
In-depth development experience using Scala and building software from the ground up
Proven expertise in functional programming principles
Hands-on experience with the Typelevel stack, preferably Cats and Cats Effect
Experience with microservices and AWS highly preferred
Focus on software quality and scalability
Excellent spoken and written English skills
Currently based in Portugal, South Africa, or Kenya
Ability to participate in Agile rituals and practices
Successful candidates must complete reference and background screening checks
