About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build, test, and maintain production data pipelines and dbt models with limited day-to-day direction
- Own scoped projects end to end, including requirements clarification, implementation, testing, documentation, and handoff
- Write and maintain orchestration jobs; monitor pipeline health, triage failures, and resolve or escalate production issues
- Participate actively in code review and apply team technical standards
- Partner with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate reporting and data needs into durable models
- Contribute to team standards, documentation, and tooling improvements
- Ensure compliance and confidentiality of Personal Health Information across all data
- Attend regular meetings with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders
- Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Safeguard Personal Health Information and comply with data privacy requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or another quantitative field
- Relevant work experience as a Data Engineer
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a closely related data role
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, including performance-aware query writing
- Hands-on experience with Airflow or a comparable orchestrator, including building and debugging scheduled jobs
- Working experience with dbt and a modern cloud data warehouse
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and automated testing
- Exposure to AWS and managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran
- Ability to explain data work to non-technical partners and document decisions
- Ability to work through ambiguity, ask clarifying questions, and drive work to completion
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods
- Ability to participate in virtual and in-person meetings, including code reviews and cross-functional planning
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain data privacy and confidentiality requirements, including safeguarding PHI
