About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the accurate and timely recording of inventory-related transactions
- Collaborate with the Buying and IS teams to ensure that inventory/Margin is properly accounted for and reported, and that inventory-related issues are promptly addressed
- Manage reconciliations of inventory accounts, including cost of goods sold, inventory reserves, markdowns, and shrink
- Monitor in the development and implementation of inventory-related systems and processes, ensuring that they are properly accounted for and meet the needs of the business
- Manage the external audit activities related to Inventory/Margin
- Monitor the Inventory/Margin accounting processes to streamline efficiencies and continually identify opportunities for improvement
- Manage Giant Tiger’s Accounts Receivable function, including billings, collections, and reconciliations
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in Accounting/Business
- CPA designation required
- 5+ years of management experience in a retail inventory accounting department
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of professionals
- Ability to prioritize priorities and adaptable to change
- Experience with ERP systems
- Ability to speak/read/write French is an asset
- Experience working in a large organization with many locations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
