About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the accurate and timely recording of inventory-related transactions
  • Collaborate with the Buying and IS teams to ensure that inventory/Margin is properly accounted for and reported, and that inventory-related issues are promptly addressed
  • Manage reconciliations of inventory accounts, including cost of goods sold, inventory reserves, markdowns, and shrink
  • Monitor in the development and implementation of inventory-related systems and processes, ensuring that they are properly accounted for and meet the needs of the business
  • Manage the external audit activities related to Inventory/Margin
  • Monitor the Inventory/Margin accounting processes to streamline efficiencies and continually identify opportunities for improvement
  • Manage Giant Tiger’s Accounts Receivable function, including billings, collections, and reconciliations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University degree in Accounting/Business
  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of management experience in a retail inventory accounting department
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of professionals
  • Ability to prioritize priorities and adaptable to change
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to speak/read/write French is an asset
  • Experience working in a large organization with many locations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
