Manage the financial lifecycle of grants and contracts, including budget development, tracking, forecasting, and close-out.
Prepare financial reports for funders and internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with funding guidelines.
Reconcile grant expenditures to budgets on a regular basis, investigating and resolving variances.
Ensure timely drawdowns, invoicing, and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and organizational policies.
Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring proper allocation and coding in the general ledger.
Ensure all grant activities comply with funder regulations, organizational policies, and applicable federal/state guidelines (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance if federal).
Maintain accurate grant documentation, contracts, and audit files and serve as point of contact during audits or monitoring visits.
Develop and implement internal controls for grant accounting processes.
Partner with program staff to develop grant budgets that align with program goals and funder requirements.
Provide monthly financial analysis of grant spending to leadership and program managers and identify potential risks.
Assist with organizational annual budgeting process as it relates to grants and restricted funding.
Work with finance and development teams to improve grant tracking, reporting, and forecasting systems and train staff on grant compliance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
At least 4 years of accounting experience in grants management, nonprofit finance, or fund accounting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
Experience preparing grant budgets, financial reports, and compliance documentation.
Strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and grant compliance.
Ability to translate complex financial data into clear reports for leadership and funders.
