About the role
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and manage the month-end close process.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain internal controls.
- Lead and develop a small accounting team; supervise, coach, and foster a collaborative culture.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports (profitability analysis, cost accounting summaries, budget-to-actual reports).
- Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis during month-end close.
- Partner with operations to monitor and analyze production costs, labor efficiency, and material variances.
- Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, reconciliations, and standard costing; coordinate annual cost roll-ups.
- Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance; document accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with plant managers, procurement, supply chain, and sales to support operational decision-making; assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in manufacturing accounting, preferably in building products, construction materials, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
