About the role
- We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's property management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple properties’ financial records accurately and efficiently.
Requirements
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for multiple properties
- Prepare monthly financial statements and variance reports for property managers and ownership
- Maintain lease records, security deposits, and tenant ledgers
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Coordinate with auditors and provide necessary documentation during audits
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of accounting experience; property management or real estate industry strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; Yardi, AppFolio, or similar property management software experience a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
