About the role
- Process journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses to support the monthly close process.
- Prepare and review monthly financial data, including assets, liabilities, and payroll entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile accounts each month to maintain accurate ledgers and reporting integrity.
- Assist with both internal and external audits, including preparation of required documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and internal controls in compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
- Support the preparation of government filings and tax-related documentation.
- Prepare and maintain complex financial reports and records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with various departments to analyze revenues, expenses, payroll allocations, and cost containment efforts across grants and contracts.
- Mentor accounting staff and support the development of best practices across the accounting team.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Experience with accounting software (such as NetSuite or similar systems).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
