About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serves as the senior legal resource for Georgia United’s business unit personnel primarily on consumer banking matters
Exercises independent judgment across routine and complex consumer banking issues
Leads the development, review and revision of legal documents relevant to consumer banking
Coordinates with outside counsel as needed to consult on consumer banking litigation, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance
Stays current on legislation, regulations, judicial developments, and trends affecting consumer banking
Advises business units in partnership with the Compliance team on consumer regulatory compliance matters

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Licensed to practice law as an active member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
7-10 years of legal experience in consumer banking, retail lending, or related financial services areas, preferably within a credit union, bank, or other highly regulated financial institution.
Experience as a corporate generalist with a focus on consumer banking, or specialization in consumer lending, consumer protection, regulatory compliance, payment services, collections and bankruptcy, or contract and vendor management is strongly preferred.
