About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide pre-award support to faculty and postdoctoral fellows throughout proposal development
- Develop budgets and complete proposal forms and submissions
- Prepare federal and non-federal funding applications, including program projects and training grants
- Identify, organize, facilitate, and submit new, resubmission, and competitive renewal research proposals
- Support grants and collaborative opportunities with other institutions
- Provide leadership, training, and oversight to the proposal specialist in the assigned cluster
- Coordinate with cluster staff, JORA proposal specialists, and collaborating offices
- Ensure proposals are complete, accurate, and compliant with sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines
- Report directly to the assigned Associate Director
Requirements
What you’ll need- Expertise in electronic grant submissions through Grants.gov and other electronic portals
- 3–5 years of experience in academic research administration
- Knowledge of sponsored research funding mechanisms, including federal agencies, non-federal government agencies, international entities, industry, foundations, private organizations, and non-profit organizations
- Expertise with federal funding guidelines, including 2 CFR 200 and FAR
- Proficiency with financial systems, accounting, and cost accounting standards for grants and contracts management
- Budgeting experience in Excel
- Proficiency with Excel, Adobe Professional, and DocuSign
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing internal and external policies
- Ability to establish priorities and multitask in a high-volume setting
- Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to function in a fast-paced academic setting
- Ability to foster a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment
- Preferred: Certified Research Administration (CRA), Certified PreAward Research Administration (CPRA), and/or Certified Financial Research Administration (CFRA)
- Preferred: Familiarity with Workday
