About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Under the supervision of the Executive Director, plans and executes various mid- and high-level events in support of the University’s mission
  • Creates and manages event budgets, produces timelines, and works with the event sponsors on all aspects of the program
  • Manages and assists on an array of events including conferences, symposia, faculty events, Capitol Campus events, Law Reunion and Commencement and a wide variety of receptions, dinners and special events.
  • Reports directly to the Executive Director, Capitol Campus Event Management & Scheduling.
  • Works closely with other members of the events and scheduling team and supports other members as needed under the direction of the Executive Director.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in the event planning field is required
  • An undergraduate degree in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field is preferred
  • Familiarity with working in an academic or non-profit environment is preferred, along with the ability to work without close supervision
  • Must be able to interface with the public and maintain highly confidential information with professional discretion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required
  • Familiarity with EMS, Social Tables, and Cvent is a plus.
