About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a subject matter expert and team leader for programs and indications supporting the gene therapy portfolio
- Bridge clinical science and commercial efforts through strategic alignment across internal and external functions
- Help shape the global gene therapy strategy
- Conduct peer-to-peer interactions, advisory boards, KOL advocacy, congress presence, and medical symposia
- Provide structured field insights to internal teams
- Advance data generation efforts
- Ensure team members deliver measurable impact on clinical understanding, access, and appropriate use
- Develop and execute Medical Affairs strategy for gene therapy across SCD and TDT
- Build external relationships with healthcare professionals and gather actionable insights from KOLs and treating physicians
- Cultivate KOL advocacy for Genetix’s scientific message, clinical research, and product value
- Provide medical leadership to commercial, clinical, operations, payor, and advocacy teams
- Contribute to medical education and evidence-based communications
- Research scientific presentations and publications, gather competitive intelligence, and summarize findings
- Deliver scientific information through in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats
- Maintain compliance with company policies and regulations and ensure scientific integrity and accuracy of data activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- MD or equivalent degree, or advanced scientific or clinical training such as Ph.D., PharmD, or MSN
- At least 7 years of combined experience in relevant patient care and/or Medical Affairs
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and external stakeholders
- Previous experience in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Cell and Gene Therapy, or other biologic therapies required
- Experience with hemoglobinopathies such as transfusion dependent thalassemia and sickle cell disease valued
- Strong scientific expertise and ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Residence in the Southeast or Northeast United States preferred
- Ability to travel frequently to treatment centers, referring practices, academic conferences, and other engagements
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead technical and business discussions internally and externally
