About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead real-time identification, assessment, and prioritization of critical supply, logistics, quality, and capacity risks across GMNA operations
- Direct responses to high-severity events to minimize production downtime and customer impact
- Own escalation paths and align plants, GPSC, carriers, engineering, quality, and leadership
- Coordinate contingency playbooks and document decisions and outcomes
- Track and communicate critical cases through resolution across shifts
- Oversee 24/7 command center operations and coverage across all required shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Run or delegate daily huddles reviewing risk dashboards, open cases, launch timing, and staffing
- Ensure accurate updates using GSC tools, risk trackers, and crisis dashboards
- Standardize Command Center monitoring, reporting, follow-up, and launch-readiness routines
- Supervise Command Center Coordinators and related roles
- Develop talent through coaching, feedback, and standardized work
- Manage staffing, shift coverage, vacation scheduling, backup coverage, and onboarding
- Serve as the senior-leader point of contact during critical events and provide situation reports
- Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving with plants, GPSC, carriers, engineering, quality, finance, and customer teams
- Support executive reviews and readiness forums with Command Center insights and data
- Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring issues
- Champion digital tools, alarms, dashboards, automated alerts, and workflow improvements
- Maintain playbooks, SOPs, and training materials
- Track and report metrics including avoided downtime, alarm response time, critical case volume, and aging
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, manufacturing operations, or a command-center-style environment
- 2+ years’ experience leading teams or complex cross-functional problem-solving
- Ability to lead under pressure, make sound decisions with incomplete information, and align diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to prioritize, communicate risk, and recommend actions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility for early and late hours, occasional weekends, and on-call support during major events or launches
- Experience in automotive or other high-complexity, high-velocity manufacturing environments preferred
- Familiarity with GM systems and tools, including logistics visibility tools, supplier risk dashboards, ERP/TMS, and reporting platforms preferred
- Experience leading crisis management or business continuity efforts preferred
- Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be able to report to the assigned location at least 3 times per week
- Willingness to travel less than 25%
