About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute purchasing strategies based on business, market, and technology trends
- Establish a strong and competitive semiconductor supply base
- Purchase productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling, and services
- Negotiate prices, terms, and other items to complete contract packages
- Optimize supply performance using benchmarking, cost and value-chain analysis, negotiations, and supply-chain analysis
- Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional partners during RFQ management, change management, Procure to Pay, order fulfillment, and customer satisfaction activities
- Drive business-focused winning outcomes
- Develop and manage supplier relationships
- Communicate proactively and resolve issues
- Develop supply-protection and contingency plans
- Lead commodity strategies, sourcing and negotiations, budget, and execution for memory products
- Collaborate with engineering, legal, finance, operations, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive alignment
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, or product development; internships and co-ops are not considered
- Experience with semiconductors
- Competency using automated tools and ability to analyze data objectively and draw meaningful conclusions
- Effective and timely communication of relevant information to appropriate audiences
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships
- Ability to engage in collaborative negotiations and reach meaningful agreements
- Analytical thinking and ability to assess decision factors, solutions, and impacts
- Results focus, initiative, and ability to deliver on time
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize critical needs
- SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
- Ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Experience with commodities, cost analysis, or manufacturing preferred
- Automotive industry experience preferred
- Knowledge of Capacity and Materials Management preferred
- Ability to draw conclusions from complex data, market trends, and the regulatory environment
- Ability to understand basic engineering documents and technical drivers for applicable commodities
- Knowledge of contract law as applied to purchasing processes
- Must not require GM immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 sponsorship
