About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Source technology purchases including software, software as a service, and infrastructure on regional and global bases
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement sourcing strategies with technology stakeholders, IT, security, and legal
  • Prepare and complete sourcing recommendations for various levels of management
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders on supply-base strategy, technologies, products, technology roadmaps, and viable suppliers
  • Work with suppliers on governance and deliveries, deadlines, lead times, contracts, and application types
  • Participate with Software and Services IT, business stakeholders, Legal, Security and Privacy, and other key stakeholders
  • Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines proactively
  • Adhere to corporate purchasing and accounting policies and procedures
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, favorable terms, and complete contract packages
  • Develop and maintain benchmark data to drive sourcing strategy
  • Use the GPSC Sourcing Process to manage sourcing packages and establish a capable, competitive supply base

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of relevant purchasing experience; internship or co-op experience does not count
  • Understanding of legal and commercial terms and conditions, with ability to negotiate and assess risk
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of basic software concepts
  • Ability to function independently and navigate ambiguous situations
  • Proficient communication skills
  • High-level knowledge of, or ability to learn about, purchased items
  • Analytical skills, including in-depth benchmarking
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously and prioritize requests
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods for working effectively with business partners
  • Knowledge of computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet research
  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
  • Willingness to travel 5% domestically and internationally
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with IT, technology, or software preferred
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
