Lead Global Sourcing Manager – GPSC Purchasing
General MotorsLead Global Sourcing Manager responsible for purchasing materials and developing commodity strategies. Overseeing the global Creativity Team and collaborating with cross-functional partners in GM.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute a robust commodity strategy based on market and technology trends.
- Maintain sourcing pipeline and Business Over Time, benchmarking data, CT strategy presentations, global budget and on-time metrics for the entire CT
- Manage global Creativity Team and ECT meetings with support and collaboration with key stakeholders
- Develop and execute a business plan to meet material performance goals
- Support global counterparts to address operational issues and align the global strategy for future programs and supplier management
- Keep abreast of trends that impact the CT—be it market, technology or changes in the supply base
- Ensure adherence to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures for yourself and the larger team
- Utilize the GPSC sourcing process to manage sourcing packages (RFQ, Quote Analysis and Source Selection) and to establish a capable/competitive global supply base
- Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e., benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics or product development (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)
- Ability to Travel 15% of time, both domestically and internationally
- Proficient in completing tasks autonomously, without coaching
- Data Judgement - Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
- Informative Communication - Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience both effectively and timely
