About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execution of Robot related projects in Body-shop, Press – shop, General Assembly, Global Propulsion System shop and Paint shop sealing applications
- Monitor and control projects including project scope, issues, risks and schedule
- Manage issues to closure
- Communicate project status and ensure all stakeholders are aware of progress through project meetings, status reports and milestone reviews
- Monitor the configuration of the robots for the application and process like Welding guns, Welding controller, Material Handling grippers, Tool Changers, Dispense equipment etc
- Selection of the right model of Robots depend on the process, payload and cycle time requirements
- Coordinate with Robot programming agency for a given project
- Approval of Robotic cells for shipment after pre-installation at jig maker’s site
- Perform the Robot simulation by using Process simulate and Approval of Robot simulation and OLP made for a particular project
- Suggest improvements in order to reduce on-floor execution time
- Buy-off of Robot programs from Robot programming agency
- Involve in development and maintenance of engineering standards (templates, e tools etc) and drive to deploy them across all new projects
- Responsible for training and integrating with Robot programming agency to adhere to GM standards and Responsible for doing Root Cause Analysis
- Coordinate project timing schedule with body-shop team
- Interact and coordinate with the controls team for interfacing the Robot with the control systems
- Coordinate with process suppliers for special processes like rollerhemming, laser welding, clinching etc
- Coordination with other units of GM, worldwide for global projects
- Good Knowledge on the Machine Vision systems – FANUC 3DV, PhotoNeo, Matrox
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Production/ Automobile Engineering discipline
- Strong knowledge of FANUC robots & cobot programming and troubleshooting
- Experience in spot welding, arc welding, material handling, and sealing applications
- Knowledge of robot selection, procurement, and system integration
- Hands-on experience in cell validation and commissioning
- Proficiency in Process Simulate and OLP validation
- Experience across automotive shops (Body, GA, Paint, Press)
- Understanding of robot–PLC integration
- Exposure to advanced vision systems (FANUC 3DV, PhotoNeo, Matrox, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and multitasking abilities
