Controllership – Design & Build, Manufacturing
General MotorsSenior Finance Analyst managing GM’s inventory processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Focused on analysis, reporting, and supporting inventory-related financial decisions.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate, monitor and analyze results of plant inventory counts and annual physical inventory processes
- Oversight of lower of cost or net realizable value (LCNRV) adjustments on inventory
- Analysis and reporting of month-end inventory balances including GMNA inventory balances, associated P&L impacts and global inventory footnote disclosure in GM’s 10Q/K
- Support and collaborate with Global Business Solutions (GBS) inventory and product costing teams to ensure compliance with APM requirements, effective controls and accurate reporting
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Management Finance to ensure alignment of financial results, budget/forecast impacts and any required disclosures
- Navigate and understand various systems impacting inventories/product costing including Material Global Optimization (MGO), Global Product Costing (GPC) and financial reporting of inventories across eSAP, Global Ledger, FINCORE, GCARS/OneStream
- Utilize new technologies and solutions to create more robust controls, process efficiencies and impactful reporting packages
- Presentation of financial results to other members of the organization including leadership
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests
- Develop strong relationships with business partners, support requests/inquiries including Controllership, Finance, IT and various other operational partners
- Maintain controls and work with Financial Assurance and external auditors to support audit requirements, streamline existing business processes and develop new/enhanced control procedures
- Model GM’s desired behaviors including safety
- Actively promote GM’s culture of inclusion
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) (preferred)
- Public accounting firm experience (preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience (preferred)
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to understand and apply accounting and financial reporting standards (US GAAP)
- Ability to prioritize assignments/projects, take on additional responsibilities and deliver within restricted time constraints
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships
- Focus on learning and personal development
- Ability to embrace and manage change
