About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform General Ledger functions; assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Identify, interpret and analyze potential accounting risks and issues
  • Research and analyze accounting transactions and contracts
  • Identify and execute internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures
  • Partner with Finance to determine accounting implications of transactions and perform analytical analyses to utilize when making all material business decisions
  • Assist with internal and external financial reporting - including analyzing consolidated results, drafting SEC documents and management review reports, ensuring quality, and administering strict timeline
  • Evaluate current accounting practices and policies and drive continuous improvement
  • Research and interpret new accounting standards and brainstorm how each applies to GM as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements
  • Build upon prior work experiences to Propose and implement business solutions for more complex business problems with some independent judgement and autonomy- Analyze business results (vs. forecast, budget and prior year), understand and explain changes in business drivers, drive forecast accuracy, and recommend improvements- develop and utilize financial analysis tools to proactively evaluate financial performance and business risk (e.g. financial models, business cases, run rate, advanced data analytics)
  • Prepare reporting package for monthly operating review and /or Key performance Indicators (KPIs), selecting the best presentation method for audience
  • Support the budget and Long Term plan development. Analyze trends to Establish aggressive yet achievable target
  • Form relationships with functional stakeholders and business partners
  • Display deep understanding of how position / operating staff impacts the Income Statement and Cash Flow
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation (e.g. streamline process, improve data analytics)
  • Effectively communicate financial performance and results of analysis performed to Finance Leadership and Key business partners
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to grow (e.g. develop new skills, attend training opportunities, network, feedback)
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Highly Analytical: Strong expertise in MEC activities & reporting, including Balance Sheet reviews and variance analysis
  • Account Knowledge: Able to relate and interpret data across key accounts such as Cash, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Sales, Inventory, and Intercompany transactions
  • Effective Communication: Proficient in leading discussions with Business Units (BU) and cross-functional counterparts, including working with international associates where English is a second language
  • Flexible Work Hours: Willingness to take late-night calls and extend working hours during closing periods or as per business requirements to accommodate global time zones
  • Detail-Oriented: Precision is critical, especially when handling cash transactions and reconciliations
  • Strategic Problem Solver: Proactively identifies and resolves issues with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through. Demonstrates strong discipline, accountability, and a proactive mindset
  • Resilient Under Pressure: Performs effectively in fast-paced and critical periods due to impact on financial reporting, maintaining focus and delivering results under tight deadlines

  • Intermediate understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and SOX/Internal Control Requirements – additionally continue to attend training on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Wall Street System (WSS), Gepara and other GM systems as required for the assigned position (systems and level of knowledge necessary will vary – employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools. Exposure and experience in treasury & AR/AP operations is a plus.
