About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Use CAE formability analysis and stamping process skills to provide manufacturability assessment for Large Stamped Panels and developing Stamping Processes
  • Work with simultaneous die engineers, design studio, product engineers, manufacturing engineers, and program management to develop balanced integrated systems design for future program launches
  • Process a new product design for early manufacturing feasibility studies
  • Provide manufacturing input and engineering criteria to Styling & Product Engineering
  • Develop preliminary die-face layout and run formability analysis
  • Run iterations to optimize manufacturing conditions and identify manufacturability concerns
  • Propose solutions in resolving manufacturing related issues including splits, wrinkles, surface defects, skid lines, material utilization, press handling, and throughput
  • Support Die Leads in program health checks, stamping strategy reviews, and deviation requests
  • Review and resolve manufacturability requirements with Product Development (DFM)
  • Prepare handoff documents and math data of manufacturing product releases to production die sources

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, or related field of study
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a Design Engineer, Lead Engineer, or related role
  • Eight years of experience with: Manufacturing CAE experience in Die and Stamping, high level skills in using commercial software packages including Autoform, Dynaform, Pamstamp, LS-DYNA; Engineering discipline including CAE, mechanics, physics, materials, and manufacturing methods; and Sheet forming simulation
  • Five years of experience with: Die Processing; and NX, Vis Mockup, and Teamcenter Engineering
  • Three years of experience with: Surfacing using CAD software; Die Design; and Die Execution and Tryout.
