About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Use CAE formability analysis and stamping process skills to provide manufacturability assessment for Large Stamped Panels and developing Stamping Processes
Work with simultaneous die engineers, design studio, product engineers, manufacturing engineers, and program management to develop balanced integrated systems design for future program launches
Process a new product design for early manufacturing feasibility studies
Provide manufacturing input and engineering criteria to Styling & Product Engineering
Develop preliminary die-face layout and run formability analysis
Run iterations to optimize manufacturing conditions and identify manufacturability concerns
Propose solutions in resolving manufacturing related issues including splits, wrinkles, surface defects, skid lines, material utilization, press handling, and throughput
Support Die Leads in program health checks, stamping strategy reviews, and deviation requests
Review and resolve manufacturability requirements with Product Development (DFM)
Prepare handoff documents and math data of manufacturing product releases to production die sources

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, or related field of study
Ten (10) years of experience as a Design Engineer, Lead Engineer, or related role
Eight years of experience with: Manufacturing CAE experience in Die and Stamping, high level skills in using commercial software packages including Autoform, Dynaform, Pamstamp, LS-DYNA; Engineering discipline including CAE, mechanics, physics, materials, and manufacturing methods; and Sheet forming simulation
Five years of experience with: Die Processing; and NX, Vis Mockup, and Teamcenter Engineering
Three years of experience with: Surfacing using CAD software; Die Design; and Die Execution and Tryout.
