Vehicle Performance Engineer – Noise & Vibration
General MotorsN&V Performance Engineer for GM Defense assessing vehicle performance and integrating with cross-functional teams. Involved in every stage from design to testing of defense vehicles.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform pre-VPI N&V assessments of vehicle level & subsystem level performance for defense vehicles
- Ensure all N&V component targets are defined in SOR prior to it being sent out for bid.
- Conduct lab testing to develop requirements for any component on the vehicle; electrical modules, HVAC, interior components, etc.….
- Document results and communicate results to program teams at VPIT and also SMT / VDDV / VDT engineers as needed.
- Support virtual engineering by engaging in the development of math-based tools and models.
- Use all N&V data acquisition tools to conduct testing, LMS & HEAD systems.
- Document lessons learned, support peer review and program review meetings.
- Support PDT / CIT / PIT meetings as needed to resolve N&V AVD and Hardware performance issues.
- Support performance engineers with lab testing to help root cause issues found in vehicles.
- Interact with technicians, equipment & software suppliers, validation, SMTs, and other technical experts to implement existing test procedures (GMWs) and develop new test procedures as required for defense vehicles.
- Provide technical support to vehicle program teams, SMT engineering organizations, validation, quality, and manufacturing.
- Research latest N&V technologies related to lab testing and determine feasibility.
- Participates in design/peer reviews.
- Shares lessons learned with peers and Manager.
- Keeps Manager informed of assignment status, timing, and technical issues.
- Independently creates/manages project plans.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering degree
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate test vehicles.
- 3+ years of Noise & Vibration experience
- 5 years of Engineering experience
- Proficient in data acquisition systems and test equipment; LMS & HEAD Acoustics
- Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee).
