About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • DRE is expected to operate with a high degree of independent judgment and technical discernment, implementing functional strategy and administering complex programs.
  • Lead VCU hardware and software development activities, including architecture, feature specification, design, development, and test plan reviews, to ensure products are delivered on time with quality.
  • Manage release plan requirements and ensure delivery per GM processes.
  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex hardware, software, validation, integration, and launch issues.
  • Lead resolution of plant‑related issues, including part delivery constraints and SW/HW updates.
  • Work as one team with suppliers and internal partners across hardware, software, validation, manufacturing, IT, and vehicle integration teams.
  • Own and execute timely release of hardware and software part numbers.
  • Manage and support engineering changes.
  • Participate in required design, technical, and program reviews.
  • Review, maintain, and ensure alignment of requirement specifications.
  • Ensure regulatory and certification requirements are met throughout development and launch.
  • Align and support vehicle program rollout planning.
  • Track, communicate, and resolve launch and build issues.
  • Proactively identify and remove development and implementation roadblocks.
  • Support part approval process, vehicle integration activities, and build events.
  • Lead and guide the work of others as required.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Solid working knowledge of infotainment technologies, including Bluetooth, Voice Recognition, Wi‑Fi, Navigation, and application development
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction and in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and timelines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence and elicit cooperation across vehicle teams, suppliers, internal departments, and leadership
  • Experience researching, learning, and applying new technologies.
