About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Apply engineering principles to improve fire protection system design and performance.
  • Drive compliance of GM Fire requirements through influence across multiple sites, business units and stakeholders.
  • Lead development and revision of corporate fire safety policies and standards based on updated regulations and building codes.
  • Facilitate and lead tabletop exercises, improving emergency fire response, for complex operations.
  • Provide expert consultation during major projects, including EV and high-risk areas.
  • Use persuasive communication and leadership to foster a strong fire safety culture.
  • Serve as a global subject matter expert for fire prevention and protection strategies.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in fire protection compliance and/or facilities management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally in Engineering or related field.
  • Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead policy development and influence organizational safety culture using globally recognized code (NFPA, FM, IBC, IFC, etc.).
  • Expertise in fire protection system design and engineering controls.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
