About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and define the end‑to‑end charging communication system architecture, spanning vehicle software, charging stations, backend services, and mobile applications
  • Lead the development of solution requirements for non‑mechatronic charging features, including AC/DC charging behavior, PnC, V2G/V2H capabilities and their interactions with GM Cloud
  • Work with multiple charge point operators (CPOs) to ensure interoperability and identify integration gaps early in the development lifecycle
  • Support functional decomposition and allocation of product, feature, and system functionality to software and compute platform teams
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering, systems teams, validation, UX, mobile, back‑office, cloud, manufacturing, and suppliers to deliver integrated charging solutions
  • Support issue triage, root cause analysis, and resolution for complex charging and protocol issues during development, integration, and testing
  • Ensure alignment with safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, and charging protocol standards (e.g., ISO 15118, CCS, DIN 70121)
  • Create and maintain system documentation, including requirements, interface specifications, and traceability, and support program milestones and readiness reviews
  • Actively participate in ISO Standards committee discussions on enhancements and new feature standards impacting vehicle charging, V2H, and V2G functionalities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechatronics, or related)
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded software, EV charging, connectivity, or a related development domain
  • Expert in systems and software architecture, embedded software development, and testing methodologies
  • Experience with requirement tools such as DOORS / DNG and Rhapsody
  • Experience with Agile or SAFe development methodologies
  • Understanding of CI/CD automation strategies and continuous testing
  • Experience with Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD)
  • Highly proficient at analyzing unusual and complex issues while driving results in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skill to work effectively with people in other functions and regions
  • Demonstrated organizational agility and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional environments
