Engineering Manager – Component Environmental & Durability

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and mentor a team of Hardware Performance Engineers, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise in environmental and durability testing and analysis.
- Lead cross-functional teams and consulting services to define, develop, and execute component-level environmental and durability performance requirements, test plans, and validation strategies.
- Oversee the performance management process for the team, including setting objectives, conducting regular performance reviews, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier partners to ensure component designs meet stringent environmental and durability standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in test methodologies, analysis techniques, and data interpretation related to hardware performance.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the team in resolving complex environmental and durability performance issues.
- Communicate project status, technical challenges, and solutions effectively to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering management or a senior technical leadership role within the automotive or related industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Proven track record of coaching and mentoring engineering teams and developing talent
- Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams in complex engineering environments
- Experience in performance management, including goal setting, evaluation, and team development
- Deep expertise in environmental and durability testing of hardware components
- Solid understanding of material science, fatigue, corrosion, and failure mechanisms impacting product durability
- Familiarity with GM specifications (e.g., GMW3172)
