Key responsibilities & impact

Lead development of New Test and Analysis Methods for Rolling Resistance, Traction, Force & Moment, and Impact Resistance
Lead development of reduced lead time and lower cost Tire Test Methods for Treadwear and Endurance
Lead implementation of New Test and Analysis Methods with GM’s Global Tire Supply Base in accordance with requirements
Lead development and implementation of Tire Profile Packaging requirements
Conduct Special Tests and Analysis for Field, Regulatory, and Motorsports investigations
Perform Onsite Tire Supplier Lab Test Equipment Technical Assessments
Determine Vehicle Load Inputs into Tires for Virtual analysis
Serve as the GM Representative for ASTM and SAE Tire Technical Committees
Lead complex technical problem-solving investigations and recommend data-driven direction
Analyze and interpret test results to assess production readiness
Update and maintain test procedures in collaboration with Tire Test Lab
Demonstrate creativity, innovation, and a willingness to take on challenging assignments

Requirements

What you’ll need

Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee)
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other relevant degree
Minimum 5 years of Tire Engineering experience or other relevant experience
Proficient in using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), MATLAB, and C# (C Sharp) software
High level of interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and effectively with others both internally at GM and externally with Suppliers to meet mutual objectives
High level of oral and written communication skills
Applied knowledge in engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy, and manufacturing methods related to the tire/wheel commodity.
