About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development of New Test and Analysis Methods for Rolling Resistance, Traction, Force & Moment, and Impact Resistance
  • Lead development of reduced lead time and lower cost Tire Test Methods for Treadwear and Endurance
  • Lead implementation of New Test and Analysis Methods with GM’s Global Tire Supply Base in accordance with requirements
  • Lead development and implementation of Tire Profile Packaging requirements
  • Conduct Special Tests and Analysis for Field, Regulatory, and Motorsports investigations
  • Perform Onsite Tire Supplier Lab Test Equipment Technical Assessments
  • Determine Vehicle Load Inputs into Tires for Virtual analysis
  • Serve as the GM Representative for ASTM and SAE Tire Technical Committees
  • Lead complex technical problem-solving investigations and recommend data-driven direction
  • Analyze and interpret test results to assess production readiness
  • Update and maintain test procedures in collaboration with Tire Test Lab
  • Demonstrate creativity, innovation, and a willingness to take on challenging assignments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee)
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other relevant degree
  • Minimum 5 years of Tire Engineering experience or other relevant experience
  • Proficient in using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), MATLAB, and C# (C Sharp) software
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and effectively with others both internally at GM and externally with Suppliers to meet mutual objectives
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Applied knowledge in engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy, and manufacturing methods related to the tire/wheel commodity.
