About the role

  • Set and own Chevrolet communications strategy for your portfolio, aligning plans, narratives, and KPIs to Chevrolet and GM business priorities.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of communications professionals, providing clear direction, coaching, and ongoing career and skills development.
  • Shape and protect Chevrolet’s external narrative across products and technology, with particular focus on vehicle launches, performance, EVs, and brand-defining stories.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with automotive media and influencers, serving as a senior point of contact for complex, high-impact engagements.
  • Oversee major launches and events (e.g., media drives, auto shows, key reveals), integrating work across functions, agencies, and partners.
  • Advise Chevrolet and GM senior leaders, using data, insights, and your industry expertise to recommend strategies, manage issues, and mitigate risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how the team plans, executes, measures, and reports on communications, simplifying processes and removing roadblocks so the team can move with urgency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 12+ years of relevant communications or media relations experience with a strong, demonstrated focus in automotive (OEM, supplier, auto media, or closely related).
  • Meaningful automotive product and industry experience and a clear passion for vehicles are required; candidates without this background will not be considered.
  • Deep understanding of automotive products, technology, and development cycles, and the ability to quickly grasp and accurately represent complex vehicle features.
  • Strong familiarity with automotive and mobility press, including enthusiast, mainstream, business, fleet, and technology outlets; proven experience pitching, briefing, and building trust with key journalists.
  • Ability to translate technical product details into clear, consumer-friendly and media-ready stories that differentiate Chevrolet.
  • Expert-level writing and verbal communications skills, with a track record of producing high-quality press materials, talking points, and executive communications with minimal editing.
  • Proven ability to set strategy, goals, and KPIs for a defined business area and own delivery of results, including budget, resources, and measurement.
  • Experience leading and developing a team, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and building diverse, inclusive teams.
  • Demonstrated success driving large, cross-functional projects that span multiple departments and external partners, often under tight timelines and high visibility.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills in time-sensitive or ambiguous situations, with the confidence to counsel senior leaders and speak fearlessly when course correction is needed.
  • Highly organized, data-informed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, matrixed, change-oriented environment.
