About the role
- Develop and maintain software for managing diverse fleets of GM vehicles (R&D and production).
- Optimize software performance and reliability for real-world deployment.
- Leverage the guidance and experience of more senior engineers on the team to identify engineering pain points and implement reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Effectively communicate the status of their work.
- Follow software engineering best practices within the team.
- Contribute to the engineering culture on the team.
- Contribute to real-world services and gain practical experience with Go, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, GCP, and supporting tools such as Buildkite and OpenTelemetry.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Academic exposure to distributed systems concepts, including scalability, reliability, or fault tolerance.
- Experience writing Go, Python, or similar languages through coursework, internships, or project work.
- Understanding of Unix/Linux, SSH, and networking fundamentals.
- Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week.
