About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create, communicate, and lead product plans for embedded controllers and sub-components
  • Ensure product development and release plans align with engineering standard work and support on-time, high-quality delivery of VMEC embedded control products
  • Manage embedded controller part number proliferation, including end model, software, and calibration parts
  • Track and report work status, escalate issues, and drive mitigation of timing or quality risks
  • Lead and support product issue investigations through the Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS)
  • Drive continuous process improvements, standard methodologies, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support Software Execution Team meetings and agile meeting ceremonies
  • Provide technical leadership, issue resolution, and technical direction for assigned products
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members
  • Collaborate with product engineering and vehicle manufacturing on new ways of working and program management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in at least three embedded controls development areas or equivalent, including controller hardware design, sensor and actuator design, algorithm design, software development, calibration, integration, testing and validation, electrical architecture design, FMEA, or HW/SW DRE
  • Skills in initiative, results orientation, problem solving, analysis of unusual and sophisticated problems, ambiguity management, planning and organization, project management, relationship building, collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking, and meeting leadership
  • Proven experience in Root Cause Analysis
  • Understanding of HIL Bench Testing
  • No GM immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future; applicants must not require H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other immigration support
  • Master's degree in engineering or computer science preferred
  • 5+ years of automotive experience preferred
  • Understanding of AUTOSAR software constructs and implementation preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with diagnostic parameters (DIDs, RIDs, DTCs) preferred
  • Experience with Agile Product Development preferred
  • Program and project management experience preferred
  • Understanding of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) preferred
  • Experience with cross-functional initiatives preferred
  • Understanding of software, hardware, and calibration integration preferred
  • Experience leading diverse, global, cross-functional teams with a focus on change management preferred
  • Familiarity with Generative AI preferred
  • Design Release and/or Calibration experience preferred
