About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Learn the fundamentals of PFMEA and its use in manufacturing
  • Participate in PFMEA reviews, workshops, and risk-reduction activities
  • Assist with analyzing manufacturing processes to identify potential risks
  • Support engineers with PFMEA data, reporting, and documentation
  • Learn how lessons learned are captured and applied to future vehicle programs
  • Gain exposure to vehicle launch activities and the transition from Launch to Plant
  • Work with Manufacturing, Quality, Launch, and Plant teams
  • Use Microsoft tools, Google tools, and other computer-based analytical and collaboration tools
  • Assist with projects improving manufacturing quality, productivity, and process reliability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months
  • Exposure to manufacturing, PFMEA, Control Plans, Standardized Work, or vehicle assembly is a plus but not required
  • Interest in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Automotive processes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to learn and use Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other digital/analytical tools
  • Ability to work effectively with different teams and business partners
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other immigration support
  • Expected to report to the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan three times per week at minimum
  • Travel to manufacturing plants may be required
