About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct impartial, fact-based investigations into employee concerns and policy matters
  • Own foundational Employee Relations matters requiring ER judgment, employee or leader guidance, and structured issue framing
  • Assess incoming concerns and determine appropriate ownership, including advisory handling, inquiry, formal investigation, or escalation
  • Conduct lower-severity, entry-level, and routine investigations from intake through closure
  • Perform fact-finding, interviews, evidence review, findings, documented recommendations, and case summaries or reports
  • Partner with HR and other stakeholders to support timely, fair, and consistent outcomes
  • Maintain complete and accurate AIMS records, including case details, participants, documentation, and status updates
  • Escalate matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, threats or violence, repeat or pattern concerns, cross-site impact, senior leaders, HR involvement, or elevated legal, reputational, or specialty-team risk
  • Apply common templates, documentation standards, and escalation logic within the centralized ERI operating model
  • Contribute to Global Employee Relations projects and initiatives through project management and administrative support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, HR case management, labor or employee issue resolution, or a related discipline
  • Experience conducting structured fact-finding, interviews, and evidence review
  • Ability to assess when a matter requires coaching, inquiry, formal investigation, or escalation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear, fact-based documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple cases while maintaining documentation rigor and confidentiality
  • Sound judgment in sensitive employee situations
  • Ability to work across HR, Policy, Legal, Labor Relations, and business stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills, including organizing ideas and priorities, completing tasks, and meeting deadlines
  • No GM immigration sponsorship is available now or in the future
  • Must be able to work under the stated remote/hybrid arrangement; candidates within 50 miles of Austin, Detroit, Warren, or Mountain View must report to that location at least three times per week
