About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure end-to-end over-the-air software delivery reliably downloads and updates vehicle software across GM-developed vehicles
  • Utilize sub-system test bench environments to verify critical and complex features throughout major vehicle development milestones
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures on sub-system benches
  • Author automation test scripts
  • Build, maintain, and manage test environments for manual and automated test runs
  • Triage system-level nonconformities to the appropriate module or back-office system by acquiring and analyzing data logs
  • Document anomalies using company-standard issue tracking tools
  • Follow issue resolution from origination through verification, closure, and monitoring
  • Collaborate with design, systems, suppliers, and back-office teams
  • Support on-time and quality software launches

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2+ years of professional experience within software quality
  • Understanding of automotive serial data protocols, including CAN and Ethernet
  • Ability to manage multiple project assignments and switch between tasks as timing and resources dictate
  • Software QA, triage, and log analysis
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate test vehicles
  • Experience with end-to-end testing of over-the-air reflash features (preferred)
  • Experience with vehicle electrical systems and data buses, including CAN, CAN-FD, and Ethernet (preferred)
  • Test scripting with Python or similar (preferred)
  • Experience with automotive tools such as Vehicle Spy, Canoe, and Mocha (preferred)
  • Experience with hardware and software requirements documentation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Vehicle Development Process (preferred)
  • Familiarity with software quality testing automation and advanced automation tools (preferred)
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of professional experience within software quality (preferred)
