About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and implement systems software
  • Determine systems software design requirements
  • Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency
  • Generate systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures
  • Participate in software development from detailed programming to high-level system design
  • Take responsibility for overall systems infrastructure, including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support
  • Design, implement, install, maintain, and administer infrastructure, including hardware, software, and configurations
  • Monitor overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune systems appropriately
  • Perform root cause analysis on failed components and implement corrective measures
  • Establish and improve processes and procedures with colleagues
  • Own projects and participate in disaster recovery exercises

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree and 5–7 years' experience
  • Engineering degree required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Technical expertise
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk and/or computer for extended periods
  • Regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
  • Ability to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
  • Up to 25% travel likely
