About the role
- Management of multiple work items from the Planning Phase to milestone completion
- Responsible for managing multiple complex work items and providing status on work item schedule and cost impacts
- Coordinating multiple subcontractors and organic trade activities to ensure schedule objectives are accomplished
- Acting as the point of contact for assigned work items to customers
- Providing independent, complex analysis, concept formulation and new method identification
- Maintaining overall responsibility for project budgets and schedules
- Reporting to the assigned Ship Manager or Lead Manager for the project
- Developing detailed plans to monitor complex work items
- Identifying changes in work scope and ensuring appropriate planning measures are taken
- Coordinating and providing direction to assigned subcontractors and organic trade personnel.
Requirements
- Typically has a BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field
- AA/AS plus 2 years directly related experience, or 4 years directly related experience
- Preferred shipboard repair experience within a Public or Private shipyard
- Prior military experience with the US Navy in an engineering or directly related field
- Experience managing technical personnel within complex activities or shipboard availabilities
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and Power Point
- Experience of working within a “Cost Type” or “Fixed Type” Contract
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with reliable, insurable transportation
- Able to gain access to Government facilities, and able to obtain a Security clearance once employed by NASSCO-Norfolk
- Must be willing to travel and manage ship repair availabilities in remote, out-of-state locations
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment- including a respirator.
