About the role

  • Management of multiple work items from the Planning Phase to milestone completion
  • Responsible for managing multiple complex work items and providing status on work item schedule and cost impacts
  • Coordinating multiple subcontractors and organic trade activities to ensure schedule objectives are accomplished
  • Acting as the point of contact for assigned work items to customers
  • Providing independent, complex analysis, concept formulation and new method identification
  • Maintaining overall responsibility for project budgets and schedules
  • Reporting to the assigned Ship Manager or Lead Manager for the project
  • Developing detailed plans to monitor complex work items
  • Identifying changes in work scope and ensuring appropriate planning measures are taken
  • Coordinating and providing direction to assigned subcontractors and organic trade personnel.

Requirements

  • Typically has a BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field
  • AA/AS plus 2 years directly related experience, or 4 years directly related experience
  • Preferred shipboard repair experience within a Public or Private shipyard
  • Prior military experience with the US Navy in an engineering or directly related field
  • Experience managing technical personnel within complex activities or shipboard availabilities
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Experience of working within a “Cost Type” or “Fixed Type” Contract
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with reliable, insurable transportation
  • Able to gain access to Government facilities, and able to obtain a Security clearance once employed by NASSCO-Norfolk
  • Must be willing to travel and manage ship repair availabilities in remote, out-of-state locations
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment- including a respirator.
