About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, maintenance and support of complex applications and processes
- Meet eMedNY Program standards for specification development, coding, code review, unit and string testing, and related documentation
- Create documentation artifacts associated with the SDLC stage for review and approval
- Assist in preparing effort and duration estimates for systemic enhancements
- Assist in production and other support activities and resolve arising issues
- Stay current with industry technical and development trends and standards
- Keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends
- Code functional programs and applications associated with the eMedNY program
- Support the eMedNY Systems Development, Application Development team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline
- 5+ years of IT experience
- 5+ years of COBOL, CICS and DB2 experience
- Knowledge and experience with NYS MMIS or other Healthcare Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), HIPAA X12 5010 and NCPDP D.0
- Proficiency in COBOL, CICS, DB2 and Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Knowledge of mainframe technologies and open systems interfaces and technologies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and productively as an individual
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail
- Preferred: IBM WebSphere Application Server, J2EE, Java, JMS, JUnit, Spring Framework, HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery, Angular JS, SOAP/RESTful Web Services, Apache Ant, Maven, XML-related technologies, Eclipse IDE, Linux, Agile Scrum, Atlassian Jira and Confluence or similar tools
