About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review case reports to determine necessary supporting documentation for case follow-up based on Government guidelines
Review medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness
Compose clinical abstracts from medical records and information received for cases in clinical follow-up
Add medical codes using MedDRA medical coding terminology to define symptoms
Update the VAERS database with information obtained through clinical follow-up
Perform quality-control reviews of MedDRA codes added by medical coding staff to initial reports
Collaborate with other units to support daily operations
Triage VAERS reports for priority and assignment

Requirements

What you’ll need

2+ years of related experience
2 years of nursing, clinical, or public health experience
Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred, or clinical healthcare provider
Medical abstracting and coding experience with MedDRA, ICD-10, and CPT preferred
Case management experience
Proficiency in current computer technology
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while adhering to deadlines
No US citizenship required
No clearance required
