About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist coworkers with collecting and reviewing financial data from AWS Cost Explorer, custom tools, and cloud-native cost management tools
- Create, maintain, and update financial deliverables via JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Excel, and other financial dashboards
- Analyze customer cloud requirements and provide technical knowledge on low- to moderate-complexity cloud computing techniques and technologies
- Research, evaluate, and deploy cloud optimization techniques, including AWS Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and low-utilization resource optimization
- Assist with management of master payer accounts with 100+ linked accounts
- Provide extensive and timely customer service responses
- Deliver customer training on cloud usage, billing, financial operations, and FinOps education
- Champion and advocate for automated tools and drive process adoption
- Support the CMS Hybrid Cloud team with usage, monthly billing, and funding-utilization reports
- Drive user-experience improvements
- Participate in special projects as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of relevant experience in Cloud or Financial Operations
- FinOps experience required
- Experience with AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud (OCI), or GCP
- Cost analysis using a deep understanding of Cost Usage Reports
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective organizational skills
- Understanding of cloud technologies
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of analytics/queries for cloud billing
- FinOps Practitioner Certification preferred
- 2+ years of experience preferred
- Hands-on keyboard FinOps experience to drive cost analysis and recommendations preferred
- Must be able to reside in the United States and have lived in the United States at least 3 of the last 5 years before the public trust investigation
- Must be able to complete onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility
- Work visa sponsorship will not be considered
- No security clearance currently required; Public Trust required for the role
- Less than 10% travel required
