About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipeline engineering across our cloud environments.
  • Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Terraform-managed infrastructure.
  • Work closely with development and platform teams to increase deployment velocity, reliability, and security.
  • Design, build, and maintain modular, reusable Terraform code for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure across dev, staging, and production environments.
  • Implement and enforce Terraform state management, workspace strategy, and module versioning.
  • Establish and follow IaC best practices: code review standards, automated plan/apply workflows, drift detection, and policy-as-code guardrails.
  • Identify and remediate technical debt in existing infrastructure code.
  • Collaborate with architecture and security teams to ensure infrastructure design aligns with security baselines and compliance requirements.
  • Design, build, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, security scanning, and deployment of applications.
  • Standardize pipeline patterns across teams/repositories.
  • Implement deployment safety mechanisms: automated testing gates, canary/blue-green deployments, rollback automation, and release approvals.
  • Partner with development teams to identify and remove build/deploy friction.
  • Monitor pipeline health and performance.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for infrastructure and deployment-related issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers on Terraform and CI/CD best practices as opportunities arise.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) required at time of hire.
  • 5+ years of DevOps/infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Deep, hands-on production experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code across multi-environment cloud deployments.
  • Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, CodePipeline, or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of core cloud services (networking, IAM, load balancing, monitoring/logging).
  • Experience with version control workflows (Git) and code review practices for infrastructure and pipeline code.
  • Solid scripting/automation ability (Bash, Python, or similar) to support pipeline and infrastructure tooling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document and explain technical decisions clearly.
