About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipeline engineering across our cloud environments.
- Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Terraform-managed infrastructure.
- Work closely with development and platform teams to increase deployment velocity, reliability, and security.
- Design, build, and maintain modular, reusable Terraform code for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure across dev, staging, and production environments.
- Implement and enforce Terraform state management, workspace strategy, and module versioning.
- Establish and follow IaC best practices: code review standards, automated plan/apply workflows, drift detection, and policy-as-code guardrails.
- Identify and remediate technical debt in existing infrastructure code.
- Collaborate with architecture and security teams to ensure infrastructure design aligns with security baselines and compliance requirements.
- Design, build, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, security scanning, and deployment of applications.
- Standardize pipeline patterns across teams/repositories.
- Implement deployment safety mechanisms: automated testing gates, canary/blue-green deployments, rollback automation, and release approvals.
- Partner with development teams to identify and remove build/deploy friction.
- Monitor pipeline health and performance.
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for infrastructure and deployment-related issues.
- Mentor junior engineers on Terraform and CI/CD best practices as opportunities arise.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) required at time of hire.
- 5+ years of DevOps/infrastructure engineering experience.
- Deep, hands-on production experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code across multi-environment cloud deployments.
- Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, CodePipeline, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of core cloud services (networking, IAM, load balancing, monitoring/logging).
- Experience with version control workflows (Git) and code review practices for infrastructure and pipeline code.
- Solid scripting/automation ability (Bash, Python, or similar) to support pipeline and infrastructure tooling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document and explain technical decisions clearly.
