About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN)
- Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, Cisco switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, Windows servers 2008 / 2012, WIN 7, WIN 10 OS, SQL and REDHAT etc
- May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings
- Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions
- Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems
- May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment
- May design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a current and active Secret clearance
- Network analysis experience - 3 years of experience
- IAT Level II (Security+ or equivalent certification) desired
- Must be able to read and understand schematics and designs
- Must hold a valid Driver's License
- Knowledge of low voltage hardware desired
- Experience with using Hand and Power Tools desired
- The ability to travel frequently
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science (desired)
- 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree
