About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling
- Support personnel and families operating under high-intensity demands
- Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services
- Diagnose and treat clients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma
- Promote preventive care and health maintenance
- Communicate mental health concepts to a diverse group of people
- Provide Command consultation regarding trends of morale and behavioral health
- Participate in case discussion, continuing education, and quality improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
- Board certification as a PMHNP by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area
- Minimum five (5) years of post-graduate experience in the independent practice of clinical psychiatric nursing
- Two (2) years prior experience in the DoW or VA setting
- Understanding of military culture and operational stressors
- Proficiency in treating Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and chronic pain
- Proficiently use required software, documentation systems, and Microsoft Office
- Meet physical requirements, including hiking over uneven terrain, functioning in austere environments, and lifting up to 25 kg
