About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support behavioral health care delivery by providing supervised clinical and administrative services
  • Conduct intakes and assist with care and treatment of psychiatric clients
  • Observe clients to detect behavior patterns and report observations to licensed behavioral health staff
  • Lead individual or group therapy sessions under the guidance of a licensed mental health professional
  • Coordinate attendance and agenda at Case Review Committee with military and civilian agencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a psychiatric technician
  • Associate degree or commensurate level of training, e.g. military mental health technician, for a psychiatric technician or mental health program assistant
  • Applicable psychiatric technicians’ training shall include a sound foundation / basis to psychology and/or social work
  • Training shall address the basics of conflict management and how to de-escalate crisis situations
  • Trained to intervene and, when required, to restrain violent or potentially violent or suicidal clients by verbal or physical means.
