About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support secured HF communication systems for FEMA’s Office of National Continuity Programs
  • Provide feedback and guidance on solutions to unique mission requirements
  • Assist in the planning and deployment of the migration from Collins Aerospace URG-III to URG-IV HF communication system
  • Provide engineering solutions for antenna systems
  • Manage inventory control documents and maintenance schedules for operational equipment
  • Document standard operating procedures and update systems information
  • Assist in logistics operations for equipment deployment
  • Provide presentations to FEMA leadership
  • Identify and prioritize key communications requirements relevant to FEMA’s strategic plan
  • Consult family agencies in joint stakeholder meetings
  • Review agency standards and liaise for national security planning

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Expert knowledge in the technical configuration and operation of Collins Aerospace URG-III and URG-IV High Frequency (HF) systems
  • Understanding of high power antenna systems
  • Familiar with remote radio control protocols
  • Working knowledge of modernized HF waveforms
  • Experience in HF communication system-level troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of technical writing/documentation standards
  • Highly knowledgeable in planning emergency response activities
  • Clear understanding of the strategic relationship between FEMA/DHS and other federal entities
  • BA/BS or equivalent, 15+ years of experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
