About the role
- Design, develop, and maintain robust database solutions that support the DOIS modernization project
- Utilize AI tools like GitHub Copilot for database optimization, code generation, and refactoring
- Manage data migration from legacy systems to cloud-native databases (e.g., AWS Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL)
- Implement data retention and archiving strategies
- Collaborate with data analysts and developers to ensure seamless data integration and accessibility
- Conduct database performance tuning and optimization
- Develop and implement database security protocols
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks including backups, indexing, and patch management
- Document database architectures, designs, configurations, and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, preferred but not required
- 3+ years of experience in database engineering and management
- Experience with AI tools, particularly GitHub Copilot
- Strong understanding of data migration, ETL processes, and data warehousing
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS) and microservices architecture
- Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders
