About the role

  • Architect and execute secure, accurate, and complete migration of legacy mainframe data into a modern web-based platform
  • Define transformation logic, mapping strategies, auditability methods, and ensure ongoing data governance and reporting alignment
  • Support cutover planning and long-term data lifecycle requirements in coordination with internal stakeholders
  • Analyze customer requirements and provide technical solutions to difficult problems
  • Apply knowledge of APIs for data services and databases
  • Design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate, install and administer database management systems, including modeling, relational architecture, metadata, and configuration management
  • Design and implement databases on Azure Cloud addressing access methods, batch processes, validation checks, ETL tasks, protection and security, and documentation
  • Prepare system requirements, source analysis, process analyses and design throughout database implementation
  • Define database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation; may provide technical consulting
  • Coach and provide guidance to less experienced professionals; may serve as team or task lead
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on program goals
  • Assess project issues, develop resolutions, and help determine estimates, technical workflows, and supporting documentation
  • Engage customers to understand needs, socialize and vet solutions, and advise on strategies to achieve desired results
  • Diagnose larger system issues and work with project managers to complete projects on time
  • Implement best practices around technical development and deployment

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree (computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software, or related major)
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • 5+ years of technical leadership project experience providing guidance to Data Migration teams
  • Skills: Database Architecture, Data Migrations, SQL Databases
  • Proficiency with DB2 SQL data extract scripting; experience with DB2 utilities for backup and restore; understanding of IBM mainframe environment, including JCL
  • Knowledge in setting up and managing Azure SQL databases; familiarity with Azure SQL Managed Instance or SQL Server on Azure VMs
  • Experience with Azure Databricks
  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Understanding of Azure Cosmos DB
  • Expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ETL Tools
  • Track record of leading and managing successful data migration team in an IBM Mainframe modernization
  • Deep experience in developing and managing workflows, user interfaces, decision rules, and data models
  • Thorough understanding of and experience in software development lifecycle and Agile delivery methodology
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (both technical and non-technical)
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) (desired)
  • SAFe Agilist (desired); SAFe DevOps Practitioner (desired); other SAFe certifications considered
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (MBI (T2)) and pass government background screening and fingerprinting
  • U.S. residency requirement: resided in U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years with travel limitations
  • US Citizenship Required: No
