About the role
- Provides design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy
- Manages software development or engineering professionals and offers leadership, coaching, and training
- Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems
- Develops and administers schedule and performance requirements
- Develops enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions, and features
- Provides expertise regarding the integration of applications to both internal and external partners
- Determines specifications, then plans, designs, and develops the most complex software solutions
- Assists in the most difficult support problems
- Develops programming and development standards and procedures as well as programming architectures for code reuse
- Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business
- Acts as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent
Requirements
- 7+ years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience (Master’s degree preferred)
- 5+ years managing a medium to large team or department of multiple disciplines
- 5+ years as a technical expert in an IT organization
- Five (5) years of progressive experience working in the field of Advanced Traffic Management Systems / Emergency Traffic Management Systems development, design, and implementation
- Experience in surface transportation systems is preferred
