About the role

  • Design and develop innovative packaging solutions for energy technology products including batteries, power systems, inverters, and related components
  • Create packaging specifications, drawings, and documentation using CAD software
  • Conduct packaging testing and validation to ensure product protection during shipping and handling
  • Collaborate with product development teams to integrate packaging requirements early in the design process
  • Perform structural analysis and simulations to optimize package design for protection and cost
  • Conduct drop tests, vibration tests, and environmental testing to validate packaging performance
  • Analyze packaging failures and implement corrective actions
  • Optimize packaging designs for sustainability, cost reduction, and material efficiency
  • Ensure all packaging meets relevant industry standards (UN, DOT, IATA, ISTA) and regulatory requirements
  • Stay current with hazardous materials shipping regulations for energy storage products

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3 + years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably in technology or energy sectors
  • Experience with energy storage products, batteries, or electronic components preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Knowledge of packaging materials including corrugated, foam, plastics, and protective materials
  • Understanding of shipping and handling environments and associated testing standards
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software preferred
  • Familiarity with packaging testing equipment and methodologies
  • Knowledge of UN regulations for dangerous goods packaging (UN 38.3 for batteries)
  • Understanding of DOT, IATA, and international shipping regulations
  • Experience with ISTA testing protocols and package optimization
