Oversee compliance of next-generation energy storage systems with applicable industry codes and regulations, including UL, NFPA, and NEC
Lead compliance engineering for assigned projects, including new initiatives
Actively participate in industry standards development by engaging with code-making panels and technical committees.
Develop test plans, review test results, and coordinate with third-party certification bodies (ETL, BV, TÜV, etc.)
Ensure timely completion of certification deliverables to meet target launch timelines
Partner with cross-functional teams (Firmware, Hardware, Manufacturing) to address compliance gaps
Provide guidance on microelectronic hardware failure modes and safety feature requirements per UL 1998 and related standards
Possesses the ability to connect regulatory requirements with system architecture, firmware performance, and operational safety constraints, applying a solid understanding of energy storage system (ESS) technologies to shape effective compliance strategies
Demonstrated success in working across technical, commercial, and operational functions at senior levels to ensure compliance priorities are aligned with overall business objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field (Master’s preferred)
9+ years of experience in product compliance and certification
Proven track record managing multiple certifications simultaneously (UL, IEEE, IEC)
Deep knowledge of UL 414, UL 67, UL 2735, IEEE 1547, UL 1998, UL 1741, UL 9540, UL 1973, UL 6200 and related safety standards
Experience collaborating with NRTLs
Strong understanding of microelectronic safety design and compliance principles
Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Demonstrated ability to connect regulatory requirements with system-level design decisions
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
