About the role

  • Own the decision-support financial view of the testing business, translating finance-certified demand (from Demand & Volume Planning), reimbursement performance, and cost inputs into a decision-ready view of revenue, margin, and returns.
  • Own the finance partnership with testing Growth Leads, supporting strategy, performance management, and investment tradeoffs.
  • Translate company growth targets and certified demand trajectories into a business performance contract with Commercial leadership: the KPIs, milestones, and commitments the business will be run against.
  • Lead the testing business’s response to performance variance, converting volume and reimbursement diagnostics into economic implications, risks, and actions for Growth Leads.
  • Build and maintain decision-support P&L and ROI frameworks for major testing business lines, reflecting key economic drivers without replicating accounting systems.
  • Develop business cases for commercial and product investments (sales capacity, marketing, pricing, pilots, launches), quantifying expected returns, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Drive forward-looking scenario analysis and capital allocation recommendations to evaluate growth opportunities, downside risks, and capital allocation choices for the Testing portfolio.
  • Produce clear, board-grade narratives and materials for executive and board forums on testing performance, outlook, and investment decisions.
  • Represent Finance’s independent point of view on growth, risk, and returns for the testing business in cross-functional and executive decision processes.
  • Manage dedicated analytics and BI resources, setting priorities and ensuring delivery and BI support for the testing business, ensuring scarce resources are focused on the highest-impact questions and metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience a plus but not required.
  • 7–12 years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Commercial Finance, Consulting, or Corporate Development, ideally within healthcare, life sciences, SaaS, or other complex, data-driven, growth businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with commercial or GM-like leaders, supporting revenue growth, investment decisions, and performance management in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong financial and economic modeling skills, including building driver-based revenue models, ROI and business case analyses, and segment-level P&Ls; able to translate operational inputs into financial implications.
  • Proven structured problem-solving ability — can frame ambiguous business questions, design the right analyses, and synthesize results into clear, decision-ready recommendations.
  • Comfort working with imperfect, evolving data, including collaborating with forecasting, analytics, and data teams to interpret trends and risks without requiring perfect information.
  • Experience supporting executive-level decision making, including preparing board- or C-suite-ready materials that clearly communicate performance, tradeoffs, and risks.
  • Strong cross-functional influence and communication skills, able to work credibly with Commercial, Product, Operations, and Finance leaders without formal authority.
  • Advanced Excel / financial modeling proficiency and comfort working with data via SQL and/or business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); able to partner effectively with analytics and BI teams.
  • Occasional Travel required (less than 10%)
