About the role

  • Lead the development of high-quality scientific and technical content across multiple formats including research articles, blog posts, case studies, white papers, technical briefs, and educational materials.
  • Translate complex genomic research, clinical studies, testing methodologies, and industry topics into clear, compelling content tailored for specific audience segments.
  • Conduct interviews with researchers, engineers, clinicians, and scientific leaders to extract key insights and develop authentic, authoritative content.
  • Write and edit content that maintains scientific rigor while remaining accessible to non-specialist audiences, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all materials.
  • Develop content frameworks and templates that enable scalable, high-quality content production aligned with brand standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and manage content calendars that align technical, product, and data content with business priorities, product launches, research milestones, and external events.
  • Identify content opportunities based on product developments, industry trends, stakeholder needs, and competitive landscape analysis.
  • Develop audience-specific content strategies that address the unique needs and preferences of healthcare providers, patient advocates, policymakers, and biopharma partners.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product marketing, and communications teams to ensure scientific content supports broader campaign objectives and business goals.
  • Maintain editorial standards, style guides, and quality control processes for all content.
  • Ensure all content complies with regulatory requirements including FDA guidelines, industry standards, and internal legal and compliance policies.
  • Lead the editorial review process, coordinating approvals from medical affairs, regulatory, legal, and scientific leadership as needed.
  • Maintain meticulous accuracy in all scientific claims, data citations, and technical specifications while managing version control and content updates.
  • Monitor content performance and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve content quality, relevance, and impact.
  • Lead scientific writers, freelance contributors, and content specialists to deliver a consistent pipeline of high-quality content.
  • Mentor team members in scientific writing, content development, and effective collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Manage content production workflows, editorial calendars, and project timelines to ensure on-time delivery of content initiatives.
  • Partner with SEO and digital marketing teams to optimize content for search visibility, audience reach, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, medical writers, and freelance scientific communicators as needed to scale content production.
  • Develop metrics and reporting frameworks to measure content performance across engagement, reach, audience growth, and business impact.
  • Use content analytics to understand which topics, formats, and channels drive the strongest stakeholder engagement and business outcomes.
  • Conduct regular content audits to identify gaps, opportunities for improvement, and high-performing content that can be amplified or repurposed.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in scientific writing, medical communications, or technical content development with deep knowledge of genomics, genetics, life sciences, or healthcare.
  • 3+ years in content leadership roles managing writers, editorial processes, and multi-channel content strategies.
  • Exceptional technical and scientific writing skills with proven ability to translate complex technical content for diverse audiences while maintaining accuracy and rigor.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating scientific and technical content across multiple formats.
  • Experience collaborating with researchers, clinicians, and technical subject matter experts to develop authoritative, engaging content.
  • Deep understanding of content strategy, editorial planning, and audience development with ability to align content with business objectives.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for scientific communications in healthcare and life sciences contexts including FDA guidelines and compliance standards.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple content initiatives simultaneously and deliver high-quality work on deadline.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build productive relationships with scientists, researchers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented editor with commitment to accuracy, consistency, and excellence in all content deliverables.
  • Creative thinker who can identify innovative content opportunities and experiment with new formats and storytelling approaches.
  • Bachelor's degree in science, communications, journalism, or related field required; advanced degree in life sciences or communications preferred.
